You will be picked up from your hotel in Istanbul and transferred to the airport. Arrive at the Istanbul airport for your flight from Istanbul to Şanlıurfa. Fly from Istanbul to Şanlıurfa.
Upon your arrival at Şanlıurfa Airport, you will meet with your guide and drive to Göbeklitepe, one of the most important archaeological discoveries in human history, dated 12,000 years ago. It is thought to be the first pilgrimage center, deeply challenging the truths of known written history. Göbeklitepe, considered one of the oldest temples discovered to date, is located in the Mesopotamia region. It provides important data on religious belief in hunter-gatherer societies. In terms of architecture and socio-economic structure, Göbeklitepe shows us how the people of the period created sacred spaces, offering insight into their religion, symbolism, technology, and sciences.
Then, we will visit the Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum, one of Turkey's most important museums, housing an extensive collection of artifacts from prehistoric times to the Ottoman period. The museum showcases remarkable findings from Göbeklitepe, Nevali Çori, and other significant archaeological sites of the region. Highlights include life-size statues dating back over 11,000 years, intricate mosaics, ancient tools, and religious objects. The Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum offers a comprehensive look into the ancient civilizations that once thrived in Mesopotamia, making it a fascinating stop for history and archaeology enthusiasts.
After that, at the Sanlıurfa city center, we will visit the famous Halil-ür Rahman Mosque, Ayn Zeliha (Balıklı Lake), Rizvaniye Mosque, and the cave where Prophet Abraham was born. You will also explore traditional markets such as Sipahi Bazaar, Kazzaz Market, Hacı Kamil Han, Hüseyiniye Bazaar, Naccar Bazaar, Historical Customs Inn, Ulucami, and the Kitchen Museum.
