From Flåm, embark on the legendary Flåm Railway—an awe-inspiring train ride through shimmering, snow-capped mountains and icy waterfalls. The journey begins as the train winds up from the fjord’s edge at Aurlandsfjord, ascending steeply into the majestic Norwegian mountains at Myrdal station. Marvel at the enchanting winter scenery—a sparkling blanket of frost, frozen waterfalls, and tunnels carved through the mountains.
Over approximately 3½ hours, the train travels from sea level at the icy Sognefjord to the high, snowy peaks at 867 meters above sea level in Myrdal. This remarkable railway, one of the steepest standard-gauge lines in the world, showcases spectacular vistas through 20 tunnels, along rugged mountain slopes, and beside roaring waterfalls—an unforgettable winter spectacle.
Your breathtaking journey concludes as you descend back down to Bergen, arriving at 6:17 PM. Your scenic train departs Flåm at 2:30 PM, with a transfer in Myrdal to the Bergen-bound train at 3:56 PM, offering a warm and cozy ride back through the winter wonderland of Western Norway.
