A journey through life's sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, and salty moments, told through Chinese and Western flavours!

From September 1 to November 30, 2025, Chen's Kitchen is serving the limited-time "Five Flavours of Life Afternoon Tea Set". Inspired by the five tastes of sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, and salty, it weaves the flavours of life's different stages into exquisite Chinese and Western bites, taking guests on "A Journey of Taste and Reflection".

The afternoon tea is presented in two chapters, The East and The West, blending Chinese and Western creativity into richly layered flavours. The Eastern savouries centre on Chinese flavours, including sweet, soft lava brown sugar glutinous rice cakes, tangy and spicy Sichuan pepper hot and sour conch slices, refreshing salt and pepper bitter melon with a sweet finish, fragrant and crispy Mapo crispy tofu, and bouncy lychee and shrimp paste balls – a showcase of the subtle variety of Eastern tastes through contrasting textures.

The Western desserts combine classic pastry techniques with Eastern touches, including the delicate bird's nest, honey and longan cup, the sweet-and-tart roselle and snow pear cake, the rich, slightly bitter hojicha 80% dark chocolate puff, the tingly, fruity Sichuan pepper mango coconut Napoleon, and the savoury salted egg yolk cheese tart, bringing a contemporary East-meets-West style to afternoon tea.

The set also comes with plain and osmanthus longan honey English scones, served with plain and osmanthus honey butter cream, letting guests savour the gentle aromas of osmanthus, longan, and honey within the classic English afternoon tea tradition. A choice of selected teas, coffee, or other drinks is included for a relaxed and elegant afternoon.
