Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba

The quaint historic village of Iyashi no Sato in Fujikawaguchiko (also known as Saiko Iyashino-Sato Nenba) is like a trip back in time. Set to the backdrop of scenic Mount Fuji, the thatched houses underneath low hanging cherry trees are a stunning sight to behold. Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba is a village of traditional thatched-roof houses situated on the shore of Lake Saiko, beneath the gaze of World Heritage-listed Mt. Fuji. In spring, the cherry blossoms all come into bloom at once, dyeing the village cherry blossom pink. It's an open-air museum showcasing historical Japanese architecture and rural life.

The traditional thatched-roof houses were rebuilt and transformed into an open-air museum. The village now has 22 houses converted into shops, restaurants, and museums. Typically, a visit takes between 1 and 2 hours to fully explore the village and its offerings.

By Car: Approximately 18 km from Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway via Route 139 towards Saiko. By Train: Take the Retro Bus Saiko Aokigahara Line from Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyu Railway Line for about 50 minutes, and get off at the Saiko Iyashi-no-Sato Nenba bus stop.
