I highly recommend the CheapBromo private small group tour. No waiting times are a joy! Although it's not the cheapest, having a Chinese-speaking guide is reassuring, and the accommodations are clean and comfortable.
Thank you to the lovely Indonesian boy Rey for leading us on our 3-day "Special Forces" trek. We were exhausted every afternoon and hiking until dawn, and Rey thoughtfully helped us with our bags and took photos. As a Chinese-speaking guide, he's still a bit inexperienced, but he's very sincere and honest. I wish him all the best in his studies in China!
I highly recommend our driver and the guy driving the Bromo jeep – they're both like Takumi Fujiwara! Excellent driving skills saved us a lot of time to rest. The jeep ride was bumpy but fun, and the two-seater was comfortable – fantastic!
A special thank you to our local guide at Mount Ijen, Yia Yia. The steep, rocky path was difficult to traverse, but thank you for holding our hands the whole way – it was so reassuring! His photography skills are also top-notch; highly recommended! (Hiking poles are recommended.)
