What is Numajiri Ski Resort?

Numajiri Ski Resort, located in Inawashiro Town, Fukushima Prefecture, is one of the most historic ski resorts in the Tohoku region, having opened in 1915 (Taisho 4). With a total area of 156 hectares and a vertical drop of 370m from the 850m base to the 1,220m summit, it features 7 courses. The balance of 45% beginner, 45% intermediate, and 10% advanced courses makes it appealing to everyone from first-timers to those who want to ski at their own pace. The maximum gradient is a gentle 22°, making it a popular spot for families and groups to experience their first time on the slopes. The parking lot can accommodate 1,000 cars, is free every day, and is open 24 hours.

What can you do at Numajiri Ski Resort?

The 900m Family Course is a gentle slope for beginners, allowing you to start skiing as soon as you get off the lift. The 1,300m Ipponmatsu Forest Course and the 240m Pony Course are designated as kids' priority areas, allowing small children to practice with peace of mind. For intermediate skiers, there are 4 varied courses with a maximum gradient of 22°, including the Shakunage, Challenge, and Shirakaba courses. A 1-day pass allows you to move freely between all courses. At the center house 'Preha,' you can enjoy meals such as milk miso ramen and katsu curry from the famous Aizu restaurant 'Gyunyaya Shokudo,' and ski/snowboard rentals are also available. A separate admission fee is required for the 'Donguri Hiroba' Kids Park, where you can enjoy sledding.

Should I choose a weekday or weekend/holiday pass?

Both are early-bird 1-day lift passes for elementary school students and older, with the difference being the days they can be used. Weekday passes are for weekdays excluding weekends, public holidays, and the year-end/New Year period (December 26 to January 3). Weekend/holiday passes are for weekends, public holidays, and the year-end/New Year period. You cannot use a weekend/holiday pass on a weekday, or a weekday pass on a weekend/holiday, so please check the day of the week you plan to ski before choosing. The resort is closed on Mondays, except for public holidays. As long as it is an operating day within the validity period, you do not need to specify a date in advance and can simply visit on a day that suits you.
