Spend an hour and a half making memories, discovering your creativity, and exploring one of America’s oldest and most beautiful waterfront towns! There are many fun things to do in Annapolis, but this unique art experience lets you learn watercolor painting while creating a one-of-a-kind souvenir to take home.
Join me, Em Campbell, a local artist and teacher, for a relaxing outdoor watercolor class at the regal Maryland State House, one of Annapolis’ most iconic landmarks. Perfect for visitors, couples, friends, or solo travelers looking for an authentic and creative activity in “Naptown.”
What to Expect:
This is an outdoor activity, so come prepared for seasonal temperatures and sunshine. We will meet a local hidden gem, Old Fox Books and Coffeehouse, then walk up the street to the State House building. This hands-on watercolor painting session takes place outdoors in the heart of historic downtown Annapolis. We’ll start with a short introduction and set up our chairs and supplies; all art supplies provided. Find a comfortable spot or borrow one of my camp chairs, and follow along as I guide you step-by-step in creating your watercolor masterpiece.
You’ll paint on premium watercolor paper using real artist-quality paints and a mess-free waterpen. Each sheet comes with a pre-sketched drawing of our subject, making it beginner-friendly and stress-free. Whether you’re a first-time painter or an experienced artist, you’ll enjoy a peaceful and inspiring art experience surrounded by Annapolis’ charm.
By the end, you’ll leave with your own original watercolor painting, new skills, and wonderful memories of your time in Maryland’s capital city.
Note: This is an outdoor activity, so come prepared for seasonal temperatures, wind, and sunshine by bringing a hat, sunscreen, or jacket depending on the season. Comfortable shoes are recommended for walking short distances. Total time ranges between 1½ - 2 hours. This activity is weather-dependent, so a heavy rain forecast may force a reschedule.
This activity is best suited for those 12 years and older, and is available for groups of 1-5 people.
