Product Info

Step into the past with a visit to the Pittock Mansion, a 16,000-square-foot French Renaissance-style home built in 1914. Designed by architect Edward T. Foulkes, the mansion was a modern marvel of its time, featuring thermostat-controlled central heating, indirect electric lighting, and a central vacuum system.

Explore the mansion's 23 rooms, including a library, music room, Turkish smoking room, sewing room, five large bedrooms, and two sleeping porches. Admire the curved wooden floors in the round and oval rooms, a testament to the artistic vision of its architect.

Learn about the Pittock family, one of Portland's most influential families, and their role in the city's transformation from "stumptown" to a modern, industrial city. Discover the pioneer spirit that drove Henry Pittock to create an architecturally impressive house with the latest technology.

Stroll through the mansion's grounds, which offer breathtaking views of downtown Portland and the Cascade Mountains. On a clear day, enjoy vistas of five Cascade Mountains: Mount Hood, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, and Mount Jefferson.

Visit the Gate Lodge, an Italianate-style craftsman home built of reinforced concrete with a stucco exterior and clay tile roof. Originally occupied by the Pittocks’ chauffeur and his wife, the Gate Lodge was later transformed into a historic house museum, offering a glimpse into life on the Pittock estate in the 1930s and 40s.
