Ottawa: Rideau Canal 'Light At Night' Kayak Tour｜Canada

Meet your guides at Patterson Creek Park and get set up for the night ahead. You’ll be introduced to your Oru folding kayak, go through a quick safety briefing, and step into a kayak that’s already glowing with colour. Each one is lit with LED lights that shift through colourful tones, and you’ll be handed glow sticks to add your own touch before heading out.
Launch from the creek as the evening settles in. The sky starts to shift, the water stays calm, and you’ll paddle out toward the Rideau Canal right as the sun slips below the horizon. Enjoy the calm water and the sunset glow, providing a stunning backdrop.
From there, head north beneath Pretoria Bridge and the Corktown Footbridge, with the city slowly lighting up around you. Along the way, you’ll hear stories about the Rideau Canal's UNESCO World Heritage history. You'll also see the University of Ottawa and the National Arts Centre from a perspective few ever get: level with the waterline.
Once darkness sets in, the magic truly begins. Your glowing kayak will cast vibrant reflections across the water’s surface. You’ll make your way toward the Rideau Canal Locks, where Parliament’s Peace Tower and the Château Laurier light up the skyline in front of you.
After taking it all in, turn back and enjoy the relaxed paddle to Patterson Creek. It’s an easy, social ride home with good conversation, cool night air, and the city glowing around you. You’ll finish right where you started, just a short walk from plenty of great spots in the Glebe or downtown if you feel like keeping the night going."
