A guided day trip from Krakow that combines the Polish Tatra region's three most popular draws in one schedule: the wooden village of Chochołów, the town of Zakopane with the Gubałówka cable car, and a long stop at the Chochołów Thermal Baths.

The day starts with pickup in Krakow, then a drive of about an hour and a half south to Chochołów, a UNESCO-listed village 500 meters from the Slovak border. The whole settlement is built from timber in the highlander tradition, with houses lined up along a single street and gardens that locals still tend the old way. You walk through the village with the guide and learn how the place has held onto its architecture and customs.

From there you head to a working shepherd's hut, called a bacówka in Polish. The host grills fresh oscypek cheese over an open fire and pours a shot of regional spirit. It is a quick, informal stop and a chance to try food that is genuinely from this region, not the souvenir-shop version.

Next comes Zakopane, the unofficial capital of the Polish mountains. You have free time on Krupówki Street to browse the craft market, grab lunch or just take photos. Then you ride the Gubałówka cable car up to a viewpoint over the Tatras - sharp peaks on clear days, valleys, and the town below. The cable car ride is short, but the view is the point.

The final stop is the Chochołów Thermal Baths, one of the largest thermal complexes in southern Poland. You get three hours inside, with access to indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, and an outdoor jacuzzi that faces the mountains. This is the part of the day where most travelers say the trip clicks together.

When the three hours are up, your guide drives you back to Krakow.
