The PET-CT scan is a type of nuclear medicine imaging and mostly used in diagnosis of cancer. This diagnosis relies on the fact that cancer cells consume more glucose than normal cells. And the examination is done by injecting patients with radioactive tracers(FDG), a glucose-like substance. The combination of PET and CT in a single machine(PET-CT) facilitates the precise detection of cancer with exceptional image quality.
