-What to expect-

This activity is a full-day tour of Madrid focusing on the city's history and artistic heritage, including fast-track tickets to explore the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace. The tour starts at the famous Puerta de Alcalá. In the old times, here started the road where Miguel de Cervantes, author of El Quijote and Spain's most important author, was born.

Next, you'll encounter the Plaza de Cibeles with majestic Madrid City Hall, and also the soccer Mecca Cibeles fountain, where the fans of Real Madrid celebrate the victories of one of the best football clubs in the world. After seeing these landmarks, we'll start exploring the area called The Landscape of Light, recently listed as UNESCO World Heritage. Such declaration acknowledges the Paseo del Prado and El Retiro Park as one of Europe's most relevant artistic landscapes and you will learn why with the help of a local expert guide.

El Retiro Park, built in the early 1600s. For centuries it was a private park that only Spanish monarchs were allowed to enter. The park has more than 350 acres and has more than 15.000 trees, so you will need a guide to discover all the treasures in it! We will take you to the big lake, the rose garden, the Crystal Palace, and the statue of the Fallen Angel - the only statue in the world that represents the devil!

The Prado Museum is the temple of Spanish art, and this is where its most important masterpieces are kept. Outside the museum, the statues of Velázquez, Goya and Murillo, two of the grandest artists of all time, watch the three museum's doors: don't miss a selfie with each of them! Your guide will provide you with a fast-track ticket so you will be able to skip the line to buy the tickets.

After the Prado Museum, you will have 2 hours of free time to have lunch. Your lunch is not included. Enjoy some local specialties before continuing to the afternoon part of the tour!

Once you've had your lunch on your own, your guide will be waiting for you to start the second part of the tour next to the El Oso y el Madroño statue, at the Puerta del Sol. This is one of the most famous places of Madrid, where the locals gather to welcome the New Year. From here, you will start exploring the old town of Madrid, also called the Madrid of the Habsburgs, the name of the dynasty that brought the city to its highest splendor.

During the old town guided visit, you will learn all about the Habsburg Madrid and the imperial buildings with your expert guide. Walk past the legacy that left Charles III, and marble at how Philip II brought splendor to Madrid when he turned it into the Royal center of power in Spain.

With more than 3,000 rooms, this is the biggest palace in Europe, twice the size of Buckingham Palace in London! At the end of the tour, you will receive a fast-track ticket so you can skip the long lines to enter the palace. Your guide will organize everything before the farewell. Once inside, you can visit the palace at your own pace.
