- Spot Introduction -

  • The Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden utilizes the cool climate equivalent to that of southern Hokkaido to cultivate approximately 1,500 species of alpine plants and cold-climate plants from around the world, as well as plants native to Mount Rokko and other wildflowers. Within the 50,000 square meter garden, alpine plants are collected in a rock garden, and plants are planted in environments close to their natural habitat, such as wetlands along streams and under the shade of beech trees.
  • Our pride and joy is our rock garden, which mimics the rocky landscape of high mountains, allowing you to appreciate plants in an environment close to that of a high-altitude region.
  • Autumn on Mount Rokko, where the leaves turn vibrant colors like brocade, begins to change color around mid-October and reaches its peak in early November. A world of magnificent brocade unfolds, with fiery reds and bright yellows overlapping in layers.
  • Edelweiss Mountain Hut Cafe offers a wonderful space with the warmth of wood, a terrace bathed in dappled sunlight, and other amenities unique to a mountaintop location.

- Recommended Plants -

  • Daylilies (Hemerocallis middendorffii) are short-lived flowers that bloom for only one day. Flowering period: Late May to late July. The flowers that open in the morning wilt by evening. The next morning, new flowers bloom and wilt again. In our garden, approximately 3,000 plants (about 1,000 subalpine type and about 2,000 plateau type) bloom for two months.
