Skydiving at Mission Beach offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the Great Barrier Reef, tropical rainforests, and Dunk Island from 15,000 feet. You'll simultaneously experience the turquoise waters of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef and the lush Queensland rainforest landscape. This unique blend of sea, land, and air views makes it one of the few skydiving locations globally that provides such a spectacular visual feast.
You can wear contact lenses during your Mission Beach skydive. If you wear glasses, the skydiving company will provide specialized goggles that fit completely over your glasses, ensuring they won't come off during the jump and protecting your eyes from the strong winds. Be sure to inform your instructor of your situation before the jump.
Generally, individuals with the following conditions are not recommended to participate: pregnancy, history of heart disease, epilepsy, severe high blood pressure, diabetes, bone or joint problems (like dislocations), respiratory illnesses, or recent surgery or injury. It is advised to read the activity provider's health declaration thoroughly before booking. If you have any doubts, consult your doctor and inform the skydiving company.
During the freefall phase of a Mission Beach skydive, you'll descend at over 200 km/h for approximately 60 seconds. Despite the extreme speed, due to air resistance, it will feel more like floating on an air cushion rather than a traditional fall. It's a uniquely exhilarating sensation that provides an adrenaline rush. Afterward, the parachute opens, transitioning to a smooth glide for you to admire the scenery.
Safety standards for the Mission Beach skydiving experience are extremely rigorous. All tandem jumps are accompanied by an experienced and qualified instructor who is responsible for all safety procedures. Skydiving equipment is regularly inspected and maintained. Professional and detailed ground training, including safety information and hand signals, is provided before the jump. All operations comply with the strict regulations of the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
It is recommended to wear comfortable, loose-fitting, and athletic clothing, along with well-fitting sports shoes. You may need an extra layer of warm clothing in winter. Avoid wearing skirts or flip-flops. Regarding food and drink, it's advisable to eat a moderate meal before the jump, avoiding an empty stomach or overeating. Please remove all valuables, such as jewelry or watches, to prevent loss.
Mission Beach skydiving is renowned for its unique beach landing. Under the guidance of a professional instructor, you will land precisely on the soft sand rather than an inland grassy area. This not only provides a smoother and more comfortable landing experience but also allows you to appreciate the sea and beach up close from a unique perspective in the final minutes before landing, creating unforgettable memories. There are also professional beach landing training facilities here.
Participation in Mission Beach skydiving typically has a minimum age requirement, usually 12 years old. The weight limit is generally 100 kg, though exceeding this may require an additional assessment or incur an overweight fee, with the final decision resting with the skydiving company. Minors require consent from a parent or legal guardian. Specific regulations are best checked on the latest activity details.
