A fantastic museum! My family and I had originally planned a trip to Tainan during the Qingming Festival holiday, and the Taiwan History Museum was just a backup plan for our rainy day. However, we were pleasantly surprised by its rich and diverse exhibits, engaging interactive activities, relaxing environment, and affordable tickets. It was a wonderful surprise and soothed our spirits after the rain disrupted our plans. Here are some of the key exhibits: 1. The permanent exhibition is on the second floor, showcasing glimpses of Taiwan's history and daily life. While much of the content can be found in history books and online, here, in addition to text and images, there are models and multimedia interactions. The content is very well-organized, with a clear timeline and flow. The causes and impacts of various people and events are explained in detail, giving a deeper understanding. I rented an audio guide upon entry, which helps explain the permanent exhibits. The audio guide uses dialogue to recreate historical scenes, which is different from the text explanations at the exhibition, and can be helpful. In addition, there are guided tours in the morning and afternoon, each with a different focus. The guides emphasize comparisons between ancient and modern times and answering questions, which is also quite good. 2. Special exhibitions are on the fourth floor, with two shows, neither requiring additional tickets. Currently on display are "Taiwan Women's Chronicles" (introducing the evolution of women's status in Taiwan and introducing some female historical figures) and "Unboxing! Board Game Special Exhibition" (introducing games played by grandparents in the past). These special exhibitions are also very interesting and educational, but I am not the target audience, so the experience is not as deep as the regular exhibitions. 3. The theatrical exhibitions are on the first and fourth floors. The fourth floor is a VR reenactment center, using VR to take people back to historical scenes. It is very popular, but there are only 6 shows a day, with 5 people per show, and registration usually fills up instantly. On the first floor, there is the Time Station Train Theater and the Amphitheater. The Train Theater is especially suitable for children, where they can sit on a swaying train and watch animation, as if traveling through 400 years of Taiwan; there are 12 shows a day, with about 30 people per show. The Amphitheater is a small movie screening room for watching documentaries, with 12 shows a day, with about 100 people per show. These theaters are very popular. During our holiday visit, they were packed with tourists. Since we changed our plans at the last minute, we couldn't get tickets for any of the shows. I recommend that anyone interested arrive early to register. 4. I've heard the museum's outdoor area is quite nice, with bridges, lakes, and lawns—quiet, lush, and perfect for walks or picnics. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily when I visited, so I couldn't explore it properly. Finally, regarding ticket prices: adults are NT$100, concession tickets are NT$50 (for seniors and children, but children are free during the Children's Day holiday), and group tickets are 40% off. I bought full-price tickets for NT$90 on Kkday, saving NT$10 compared to buying them on-site. Unfortunately, concession tickets can't be purchased online, so my parents had to buy them on-site.
