The reply was clear and concise, but the pricing method was unclear; only the total amount was provided. I would appreciate more specific details regarding the payment method. 👍
Our boatman was very lively, sang beautifully, and chatted enthusiastically. The Liuchuan River was beautiful, and the price for the whole boat was reasonable – excellent value for money! The 40-minute ride felt just right – a fantastic experience.
We met up early in the morning in front of Lawson at Hakata Station. Many different tour groups gathered there, so don't be nervous; it's easy to spot them. Just arrive on time and you'll find the bus and the meeting person. After that, the only service is provided by the driver. Although the entire tour is in Japanese, he will bring a time sign at each designated point to confirm the meeting time. There might not be enough time to explore each place in depth, but there's enough time for a basic overview and photos. I highly recommend paying to enter the Kannon-ji Temple; it's very solemn. Taking a boat ride on the Yanagawa River is very relaxing, but you might feel a little self-conscious sitting next to strangers with your legs under the table, as stretching them out can easily cause your legs to go numb 😅. The boatman speaks Japanese but tries his best to create a lively atmosphere. Overall, it's a great experience. If you want to have lunch after disembarking, it will be very rushed; you really can only choose one between the boat ride and eating eel! The eel rice was really delicious! We ended up taking some to Dazaifu, but you can find eel rice on the boats from Yanagawa, and you can probably find good ones elsewhere too, depending on your preference. Dazaifu is huge; don't waste time queuing for the first golden bull at the entrance. There are many more inside that you can touch and take photos of. The Omotesando is great for shopping; buy whatever you like, otherwise you won't have enough time! 😂 Umeshi mochi and the mentaiko bread at the crossroads are must-buys. Kamado Shrine requires climbing stairs 😑 It's a little tiring. The shrine is located on a small hill overlooking Dazaifu, and it was perfect for taking photos at sunset. We returned to Fukuoka around the same time for dinner. Overall, it's a suitable itinerary for first-time visitors to Fukuoka, suitable for all ages and genders, and highly recommended.
This pass is great value, allowing you to visit both Yanagawa and Dazaifu. Note that the pass can only be redeemed on the day of use, not in advance (I already asked the staff). However, the redemption process only takes one minute; the staff is very efficient. The boatman on my boat even sang a short version of "Night Fragrance," which was very entertaining! Free shuttle buses are available both to and from Yanagawa Station; the signs are very clear as soon as you exit the station.
Strawberries were in season and very sweet; it was fun picking and eating them as we went. The boatmen on the Yanagawa River sang songs, and the riverside scenery was decent, but the weather was great. The eel rice was delicious. Finally, we had two hours to shop at the outlet mall.
The tour guide Yang Meng is friendly and attentive and will provide you with many additional travel information. Want to go to various far-away city trips and do not want to drive, participate in a day trip is a good choice, get on the car to sleep and pee in the car, during the drive can also sleep rest, wake up. The overall itinerary was satisfactory, fortunately the group members gathered very punctually, it was a good travel experience.
February 4, 2026: The trip was fantastic! Our driver and guide, Xiao Li, provided excellent service. He was very warm and attentive to his guests. He took us on a boat trip, where the boatmen gave enthusiastic performances. There were heated tables, which kept us warm in winter. He also recommended the eel rice, which was delicious and served in a beautiful setting. It was a great trip for families and a relaxing and enjoyable day. Thank you, Xiao Li!
