Thanks to our tour guide, Ms. Yan, for her thoughtful reminders during the day trip. Although we didn't have much time to visit each spot, it still felt like we'd been there. When we arrived at Shirahige Falls, there was still thick snow on the ground! It was a bit cold, but everyone was very excited, making the trip worthwhile. The illumination at Blue Pond was a little disappointing; we couldn't really see any lighting effect! The illumination at Fairy Terrace was more impressive! We got back to Sapporo at 10:00 PM, a bit tired! But it was a worthwhile experience!
Although it wasn't the peak season for Hokkaido, the vast natural landscapes perfectly matched my initial impression of the region. I chose this itinerary primarily because the locations are quite far apart; a multi-day road trip would be ideal, but for a day trip, a tour group is a good option. Also, the Yasuda Kan Sculpture Museum is a relatively niche destination! However, the reuse of abandoned school buildings is very appealing, and after visiting, I felt it was definitely worthwhile. As for the Blue Pond and Shirahige Falls, they need no introduction—they are must-see attractions. So even without the backdrop of flower fields and snow, the tranquility with fewer crowds allowed me to fully enjoy the beauty. I also want to thank our tour leader, Ms. Yagyu, and our hardworking driver for their explanations and care throughout the trip; they truly cared for every member of the group without favoritism. Thank you so much! 😊
The meeting point was clearly stated, and our guide Kevin provided a very detailed explanation in both Chinese and English, also introducing local Hokkaido cuisine. The main focus of this trip was Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa. Two hours wasn't enough; it's definitely worth a second visit. The Christmas tree and Shirahige Falls were good for taking photos, but the Blue Pond was beautiful, and the ice cream and fresh milk nearby were also quite good. 👍
With only two hours to explore the zoo, there won't be much time for lunch. It's recommended to buy snacks at a convenience store beforehand. The famous Christmas tree, White Beard Waterfall, and Green Pond are indeed best visited quickly with photos. Overall, the time allotted for the trip is manageable.
