I traveled from Tokyo to Tokyo, stopping in Kitakami, Morioka, Kakunodate, Hirosaki, and finally Hakodate. I relied on this JR Pass the whole way; reserving seats online was very convenient, and exchanging for physical tickets at the airport was a breeze. Plus, the price was reasonable, making it a must-have for non-self-driving travelers.
This trip to Hakodate's Mt. Ropeway was a bit of a disappointment due to the weather; the summit was shrouded in a light mist. However, it unexpectedly revealed a unique charm. The misty mountain scenery had a dreamlike atmosphere, making the entire city seem draped in a soft white veil, tranquil and mysterious. Sitting in the ropeway, slowly ascending, watching the city lights appear and disappear in the mist was particularly romantic. Although I couldn't see the breathtaking panoramic view of what's known as one of the "World's Three Great Night Views," this experience of being surrounded by mist offered a gentler impression of Hakodate. The air at the summit was fresh and slightly chilly. Although there weren't many tourists, everyone quietly appreciated the scenery before them, as if the mist was Hakodate's gentle greeting to travelers. This ropeway trip taught me that no matter the weather, if you pay attention, the scenery will always have its most captivating beauty.
Driver was very kind, I was suprised it was a lady driver. Telling us hours of stay acceptable in each destination. Though I realized that 10 hours was not enough to cover all destinations. We made it just in time.
