Does Ratchaburi host the Lantern Festival or similar celebratory events?
Ratchaburi is not primarily known for hosting large-scale 'Lantern Festivals'; such events are more iconic in northern Thailand, like Chiang Mai. However, during Thailand's traditional 'Loy Krathong' festival, Ratchaburi, like other parts of the country, holds celebrations. Loy Krathong usually falls on the full moon night of the twelfth lunar month (around November in the Gregorian calendar), where locals release 'krathongs' (water lanterns) by the river. Some areas might also release 'komloy' (sky lanterns) for blessings and gratitude to the river spirits. If you wish to participate in similar festive experiences, we recommend checking local tourism information around Loy Krathong each year for any planned activities.
