How do I cancel or change my JR ticket?

If I miss a Shinkansen or JR Express train, should I buy a new ticket?

・Reserved Seat Ticket: You can ride on the next train on the same day. However, you can only take a non-reserved seat. If you want to reserve a seat, please buy a new express ticket at the station.
・Non-reserved Seat Ticket: You are free to take any non-reserved seat on any train after your original boarding time. If there are no seats available, you may have to stand throughout the journey.

What are Reserved Seat and Non-reserved Seat?

・Reserved Seat: Select your seat preference, and we will do our best to arrange seats accordingly.
・Non-reserved Seat: You will have more flexibility to travel on any train on the designated dates/routes. However, seats are not guaranteed and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If the train is full, you may need to stand throughout your journey.

What is Nozomi Shinkansen?

The Nozomi Shinkansen is one of the most popular shinkansen trains due to its high speed - it can reach speeds of up to 300 km/h. The Nozomi runs between Tokyo and Hakata (Fukuoka) stations along the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. As the Nozomi trains are not included in the JR Pass, you will need to purchase a separate ticket to ride the Nozomi Shinkansen.

What is the difference between the Green Car and the Ordinary Car on Shinkansen?

・Green Car: Enjoy a comfortable ride with extra legroom and more luxurious seating. Green Cars usually available in 2x2 or 2x1 seating and are more expensive.
・Ordinary Car: Provides a quality travel experience at an affordable price. Regular Cabins usually have 2x3 seats.
・Both types of carriages offer free Wi-Fi.

Why was my Japan Railway reservation canceled?

If a reservation is cancelled, it is usually due to tickets being sold out. But don't worry, you will receive a full refund including the booking fee.

When will I receive my order confirmation?

Most reservations are confirmed immediately. However, if you book more than 30 days before your departure date, you will receive confirmation of your reservation 30 days before departure at the earliest. We reserve your ticket as soon as it is available on the JR official system. To check if your reservation is confirmed, search for your Japan Rail reservation in "Orders" or keep an eye on your email for updates.

What should I do if I miss the Narita Express (N'EX) due to flight delays?

Passengers who have purchased a reserved seat on the Narita Express but miss the train due to flight delays can take any available seat on the regular train later in the day.

How to pick up tickets with my QR code?
