The 'Octopus' card is a stored-value smart card. It emits a 'beep' sound when tapped, which is why locals often refer to using it as 'beeping' the 'Octopus'. In Hong Kong, you can use the 'Octopus' card on public transport, in convenience stores, fast-food restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, and at vending machines. Simply place your 'Octopus' card on the reader, and the required fare will be automatically deducted from the card's stored value.
In addition to paying for public transport and retail purchases in Hong Kong, when you are in Mainland China or Macau, you can also use the Tourist Octopus - Nationwide Card for instant payment as long as the card reader on the public transport displays the 'China T-Union' logo.
When using the Tourist Octopus - Nationwide Card for public transport in Mainland China and Macau, the fare will be deducted from your Octopus stored value based on the card's HKD to RMB exchange rate*. - If you install the eSIM before arriving at your destination and see an 'Activating' or 'Unable to activate eSIM' prompt, please do not delete the eSIM. Turn it off temporarily and turn it back on after arriving at your destination. If you still cannot connect upon arrival, please enable roaming, try restarting your device, or manually select a supported network;
- If your device has previously installed configuration profiles, it may affect the normal use of the eSIM. Please go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management and scroll to the bottom to check for any profiles. If found, please delete them to ensure the eSIM works properly;
- The eSIM uses an international roaming IP. Some applications (such as TikTok, ChatGPT) may not work properly due to IP location restrictions. We appreciate your understanding.

Picking Up Your Tourist Octopus Card at Hong Kong Airport
Collect your card in person after you land.
Head to the Eternal East Tours Counter, A01, in Arrival Hall 1.
Present your e-voucher at the counter for on-the-spot redemption.
Counter hours are 8:00 am to 9:00 pm daily.

Can I get a refund for my remaining Octopus Card balance after my trip?
Yes, you can get your leftover balance back in cash at any MTR station. However, once you refund it, the card stops working.

The 'Usage Date' selected at the time of booking is the date for collecting your Octopus card.
Please note that this product must be collected at the Eternal East counter in the Arrival Hall of Hong Kong International Airport. If you are already in Hong Kong, you must travel to the airport to collect the product. It is not applicable if you cannot collect it at the airport counter.

There are two different designs for the Octopus card, which are distributed randomly at the counter. Both have the same functionality, and requests for a specific design cannot be accommodated.
Octopus cards are non-refundable. Any remaining balance on the card can be refunded at any MTR Customer Service Centre (excluding Airport Express counters).
Please note that if you apply for a cash refund on your Octopus card, the card will be deactivated and cannot be used again.
If you need to use the balance refund service at the Airport Express counter, the staff will collect the card, and you will not be able to keep it. Travelers who wish to keep their Octopus card should apply for a cash refund at any MTR station service counter (excluding Airport Express counters). Thank you for your understanding.
