Take a flavorful journey through Chinese cooking in this hands-on 5-course cooking class in Los Angeles. Guided by Chef Marc V. or Resident Chef, you’ll learn how to prepare a complete Chinese-inspired meal while practicing approachable techniques for filling wontons, building sauces, stir-frying vegetables and balancing bold, savory flavors. This 2-hour experience includes a full 5-course meal and is ideal for curious beginners, couples, friends and anyone who wants to make Chinese favorites feel more doable at home.
Begin your 5-course meal by preparing crispy fried wontons filled with ground pork, shiitake mushrooms, garlic, green onions, soy sauce and sesame oil. Then, move on to crispy Chinese chicken tossed in a spicy citrus-infused sauce with orange zest, ginger, garlic, soy sauce and dried chilies.
Next, prepare sizzling stir-fried vegetables with bok choy, carrots, mushrooms and bell peppers, then serve them with perfectly steamed rice. To finish, make Ma Lai Gao, a traditional Chinese steamed sponge cake with brown sugar, vanilla, evaporated milk and butter. At the end of class, sit down to enjoy the full 5-course Chinese meal you helped create. Guests are welcome to bring wine or beer, and most dietary restrictions can be accommodated if noted before the event.
