Discover what are probably Hamburg's most exciting and vibrant neighborhoods on a guided tour of Sternschanze and St. Pauli. Amid murals, political messages and creative marks left in the urban space, we will experience how a city is transformed by the people who live in it.

The tour takes you through neighborhoods that have undergone significant change over the past few decades: from a working-class district to subcultural haunts and, finally, to popular trendy neighborhoods. The focus will be on the history of the neighborhoods, their residents, social changes, and the question of who a city actually belongs to.

Street art accompanies us as a visible expression of these developments. The works on the walls tell stories of protest, creativity, identity and the appropriation of public space. They form the backdrop against which we discover the special atmosphere of Schanze and St. Pauli.

Together, we will explore streets, backyards and well-known spots away from the classic landmarks. There will also be room for questions about Hamburg, life in the city, culture, history and current developments.

By the end of the tour, you will see the city through different eyes – not just through its buildings and landmarks, but through the people and stories that have shaped Hamburg.
