－ What You Can Expect －

You will come to our stargazing location where there is nearly zero light pollution (please note that we don´t offer shuttle services). Your professional astronomy guide will take you on an astronomy journey, from ancient stories of constellations to science facts, from Greek mythology to Maori legends. You will also see a variety of deep sky objects through our powerful 9.25-inch computerised telescope and our digital telscope. We provide a photography service, your guide will take one individual photo for you with the stars.

The package includes:

  • Telescopes. 90 minutes access to our powerful 9.25” telescope, which is the same size as the one Stephen Hawking had at his home. And our eVscope.

  • Guiding. Our professional astronomy guide will operate the telescope and show you the solar system and deep sky objects.

  • Photography. We can take family or individual photos for you beneath the beautiful dark starry sky. The photos will be edited and sent to you.

  • Seats and blankets. Outdoor furniture, pillows, mattresses and blankets will be set up for you to enjoy the night sky comfortably.

  • Hot chocolate. Lake Tekapo has low temperatures at night, hot chocolate can keep you warm during the 90 min tour.

  • A fire bowl and Marshmallows. At the end of the tour, we will light the fire bowl, you can roast marshmallows with your friends and family.

What to Wear: Dress in extra warm layers year-round with closed-toe shoes (snow boots recommended in winter). Light-up shoes are strictly prohibited.

Reminders

  • Admission tickets will not be included for travelers under the age of 5 and are required to be purchased on-site

  • Tours operating past midnight count as the next calendar date—please double-check your booking selection.

  • No phone flashlights or white torches permitted. Smoking, vaping, alcohol, and drugs are strictly forbidden. Intoxicated or aggressive guests will be removed without a refund.

  • Full refunds are issued if we cancel due to bad weather (decided 30 minutes before departure). Tours operate as normal during bright moon phases.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations 3 day(s) (inclusive) before the selected date are allowed. Unused orders can be canceled for free
  • Cancellation is not allowed between 0–2 days from the selected date. Orders cannot be canceled or modified, and refunds will not be granted.
NOTE
  • Due to time zone differences, the confirmed cancellation date is based on the supplier’s local time. Please allow 2–5 business days to process your cancellation request, after which the cancellation fee will be charged according to the product’s cancellation policy. Once your refund request is confirmed, KKday will initiate the refund to your original payment method within 15 days. The actual refund timing depends on your card-issuing bank’s policy.
