This four-day Prince of Wales Island package blends community connection, coastal exploration, and independent discovery. Based in Klawock, guests are welcomed with a local orientation and guided introduction to town before venturing into a thoughtfully curated mix of scenic drives, marine wildlife viewing, and culturally significant Tlingit and Haida sites. Built with both structure and flexibility, the itinerary balances guided experiences with time to explore on your own.

Signature moments include a four-course tasting menu in the forest, a private whale watching excursion along the rich island spotted waters, and a guided visit at Kasaan’s Totem Park and Náay I'waans Whale House. From coastal drives and wildlife encounters to living cultural landscapes, this program offers an immersive Southeast Alaska experience with the comfort of local expertise and independent freedom.

For an additional cost, include a Jeep Wrangler rental for your entire trip with a guided scenic road trip and picnic through the island’s expansive forest system, offering coastal viewpoints and wildlife opportunities.

Sample Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival, Klawock & Tlingit Heritage
Arrive in Klawock where a local host greets you at the airport or ferry and provides a brief community orientation en route to your accommodations. Following vehicle orientation and an overview of your program, enjoy time to explore independently before joining your guide for an immersive cultural and culinary experience. The evening features interpretation at Klawock Totem Park and a distinctly Prince of Wales seafood tasting menu alongside storytelling, landmarks, heritage, and traditions. Discover the village’s deep Tlingit roots as one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in Southeast Alaska and gain insight into the enduring relationship between the people and the surrounding land and waters.

Day 2: Scenic Coastlines, Living Culture & Marine Wildlife
Today blends land and sea. Embark on a private whale-watching excursion in nutrient-rich Southeast Alaska waters. Conclude the day with a guided walk along Cemetery Trail followed by a tasting at Hill Bar, then enjoy free time to explore independently.

Day 3: Haida Heritage in Kasaan
Travel to the historic village of Kasaan for a guided cultural experience at Totem Park and Náay I'waans Whale House. Walk the forested Totem Trail while learning the stories and significance behind each pole, culminating inside the Whale House for deeper insight into Haida clan structure, artistry, and ceremonial life. Continue to explore the extensive road system before returning to Klawock.

Day 4: Explore & Depart
Enjoy a relaxed morning with free time to further experience the landscapes and coastal character of Prince of Wales Island before departing Klawock.
