Alaska is a land of constant change, and this full-day adventure showcases some of the state’s most unforgettable sights and experiences.

Beginning at 1:00 PM, travel north from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle (66.5622° north latitude), where you can take photos and receive an official “Cross the Circle” certificate. For centuries, travelers and explorers have been drawn to this remote region and its powerful landscapes.

Along the way, stop at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, one of the world’s largest pipeline systems, stretching more than 800 miles across Alaska. Learn about the remarkable engineering behind this massive project and its role in Alaska’s history and economy.

Continue to the banks of the mighty Yukon River, where you can take in sweeping views of Alaska’s rugged wilderness. Then travel to the high plateau of Finger Mountain, keeping watch for wildlife such as moose, foxes, bears, and possibly even a lynx. Enjoy sandwiches, sweets, and hot drinks while surrounded by the beauty of Alaska’s northern landscape.

As darkness settles in, begin the journey back toward Fairbanks while searching the skies for the Aurora Borealis. This natural phenomenon, created by charged particles colliding high in Earth’s atmosphere, produces brilliant waves of dancing light across the Arctic sky — sometimes bright enough to read a newspaper by.

Drive through the night beneath Alaska’s spectacular winter sky, watching for the Aurora Borealis as you return to Fairbanks around 3:00 AM.
