Experience the quintessential gentle adventure in the heart of Charlevoix with "L'Aventure" – a 20-km free descent on the majestic Gouffre River.
Accessible without a guide, this route, featuring easy-to-navigate rapids, will appeal to both adults and young people in search of gentle thrills and magnificent scenery.

Embark on an independent descent of about 4 to 6 hours, at your own pace, along a spectacular section of the river. Between clay and sand valleys, forests and natural beaches, let yourself be carried along by the current and discover the pristine wilderness that is unique to Charlevoix. Along the river, you will also pass through a more rural area and the charming village of Baie-Saint-Paul, adding a picturesque touch to your adventure.

Your experience is made easier by a rental service with a shuttle: you are taken to the start point, and each descent is made safe by the presence of a kayaker on patrol. You can choose between single or double recreational kayaks, and a waterproof bag is provided to protect your personal belongings.

We recommend that you bring your lunch to make the most of the many beaches accessible along the way – perfect spots for a picnic by the water. To maximize your comfort, neoprene booties and wetsuits are also available for rent. For your safety, it is mandatory to wear closed-toe shoes or securely fastened sandals.

The Gouffre River is also renowned for its ecological richness: it is home to Atlantic salmon, speckled trout (brook trout) and rainbow trout, attracting numerous salmon fishing enthusiasts.
