Gansbaai is one of the premier locations for this activity and approximately a 2.5-hour drive away from Cape Town. The whale season typically spans from June to December, with Southern Right Whales being the most commonly sighted species. However, you may also be fortunate enough to spot Humpback Whales, Bryde’s Whales and even the occasional Orca.

This tour often provides close-up views of whales, allowing you to observe their fascinating behaviours such as breaching and tail slapping. In addition to whales, there's a chance to see dolphins, seals, and a variety of seabirds. Knowledgeable guides are on hand to provide insights into whale behaviour, biology, and conservation efforts, ensuring an educational as well as entertaining experience.

  • Due to variable weather conditions and whale activity, sightings may not always be possible and is therefore not guaranteed

  • Infants (age 0-2) can join the tour for free and don't need a ticket

  • Remember to bring:Please bring sun cream/block, sunglasses, bathing costume, anti sea sick pills (if this is an issue), and own towel

  • It can be cold at sea, so some warm outer wear is recommended. It is best to layer clothes so that one can change according to the weather
