Product Info

With our tour, you will not just visit Pompeii, you will understand it. Buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and rediscovered centuries later almost perfectly intact, Pompeii is not a ruin in the traditional sense. It is a Roman city frozen in a single moment: its streets, homes, shops, temples and people preserved under
volcanic ash for nearly 2,000 years.

On this 2-hour guided group tour, a certified guide walks you through the most significant buildings and spaces of the western archaeological area, bringing to life the stories of the 20,000 people who lived here; how they worked, worshipped, traded and spent their days, right up until the morning of the eruption.

The tour begins at our office, at the first floor of the Pompei Scavi Circumvesuviana train station, where you will meet your guide that will take care of everything. The location is super strategic, we face the entrance of Porta Marina Superiore.
No queues at the ticket office. No searching for a guide in the crowds outside the gates. Everything is organized before you set foot inside the ruins. Moreover, we also have a luggage storage at our office (depending on the availability and to be paid) if you need to walk free to live your experience.

Most visitors to Pompeii walk through the site alone, reading panels, missing context, and leaving with fragments of a story. Your guide is someone with academic training in Roman archaeology and the history of Pompeii specifically. The difference is immediate: you will not just see what is in front of you, you will understand what it was, who built it, who used it, and what it tells us about a civilization at the height of its power.

Your tour covers the western sector of the archaeological park, namely the regios VII and VIII, the area that concentrates the most historically significant public buildings and private residences in Pompeii. The itinerary may vary due to different contingencies but the visit of some of the most important sites of Pompeii will be always assured.

After the 2h tour, the guided section ends inside the archaeological park. Having the entrance ticket, there is no obligation to leave: you are welcome to continue exploring independently. Eventually, if asked for, your guide will suggest which areas to visit next based on your interests and the time you have available.
