The day described below follows the guided option.

Your own licensed guide leads your group through Mont-Saint-Michel on this private day trip from Le Havre. The UNESCO World Heritage tidal island rises from the bay between Normandy and Brittany, and your entrance ticket to the Abbey is included. Your driver stays with you all day in a private vehicle and your guide welcomes you at the foot of the Mont, so you set the pace instead of following a crowded bus.

Your guide speaks English, French, German, Italian or Spanish, and the tour is private for 1 to 15 travelers: a van for up to 6 travelers, or a 16 seat coach for larger families, friends traveling together and cruise groups, so everyone stays together with the same guide.

Your day starts with pickup at the Le Havre cruise terminal, your hotel or the train station. The drive to Mont-Saint-Michel takes about 2h45 across the Pont de Normandie and through the Normandy countryside, with your first view of the Mont rising from the bay as you approach.

A free shuttle takes you across the bridge to the island. With your guide you walk through the King's Gate and up the Grande Rue, the medieval main street lined with half timbered houses, then along the ramparts with views over the bay, where the tides are among the strongest in Europe.

You then climb to the Abbey, ticket included. Your guide brings 1,300 years of history to life, from its founding by Bishop Aubert in 708 to the Gothic masterpiece known as La Merveille, with its cloister suspended between sky and sea, and the years when the Mont served as a prison.

After the visit you have time for lunch (not included, your guide recommends the best spots, including the famous omelets of La Mère Poulard) and to explore at your own pace before meeting your driver.
