The prime time to visit the Gansu-Qinghai Grand Loop is primarily during the summer. Specifically, July and August offer pleasant weather, making it an ideal period to admire the vast rapeseed flower fields of Menyuan, the magnificent landscapes of Qinghai Lake, and experience the cultural charm of Dunhuang. This tour is specifically designed for the summer holidays, with confirmed dates including July 21/28 and August 4/11/18/25, ensuring you can fully explore the most breathtaking natural wonders of the Northwest during this time.
Within the Gansu-Qinghai Grand Loop itinerary, the Menyuan rapeseed flower sea is a seasonal spectacle. The peak viewing month is typically July each year. During this time, the rapeseed flowers are in full bloom, creating a vast expanse of golden beauty that is truly magnificent. It's an unmissable visual feast for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
The Gansu-Qinghai Grand Loop specifically includes aerial photography sessions at the popular Black Mountain and Emerald Lake. This unique experience allows you to capture the grandeur and distinctiveness of these geological formations from a 'bird's-eye view.' You can document the rugged lines of Black Mountain and the ever-changing colors of Emerald Lake. This provides unparalleled and breathtaking aerial shots, creating a one-of-a-kind memento that traditional photography cannot replicate.
Staying at the Wenjia Ranch Starry Sky Villa is a significant highlight of the Gansu-Qinghai Grand Loop tour. It offers a unique overnight accommodation experience, allowing you to sleep by the shores of Qinghai Lake. Through specially designed rooms, you can lie in bed and gaze directly at the brilliant starry sky of the plateau. This romantic and unforgettable experience allows you to immerse yourself in the tranquility of the night sky while exploring the wonders of the Northwest.
Zhangye's Colorful Danxia landform is renowned for its vibrant and spectacular natural scenery. Its main characteristic is the unique red sandstone formations eroded by wind and rain, creating hills that display a multitude of colors including red, yellow, orange, and green. These colors become even more vivid under sunlight, especially when viewed at sunrise or sunset, when they are richest and offer the most striking visual impact.
When visiting the Mogao Caves, it is advisable to book tickets in advance due to daily visitor number restrictions. Photography is prohibited inside to protect the murals, and visitors must follow the guide's instructions. The key highlights are the rich and exquisite Buddhist murals and colorful sculptures, which represent one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Buddhist art in the world. They fully showcase the depth and breadth of Silk Road culture.
At Crescent Spring of Mingsha Mountain on the Gansu-Qinghai Grand Loop, visitors can enjoy a variety of desert activities. The most popular include camel rides across the dunes, immersing yourself in the atmosphere of ancient Silk Road trade routes. You can also try sand sliding for an exhilarating experience of descending from a height. Additionally, you can admire the unique desert oasis landscape by Crescent Spring and appreciate the marvels of nature.
The main difference between the upgraded 2+1 luxury bus and a standard bus on the Gansu-Qinghai Grand Loop tour lies in its seating configuration. A 2+1 arrangement means there are only three seats per row (one on each side and one in the middle), instead of the traditional 2+2. This provides more personal space, making long journeys more comfortable, effectively reducing travel fatigue, and enhancing the overall riding experience.
