The Chocolate Hills are distinctive for their approximately 1,268 to 1,776 symmetrical, cone-shaped mounds, spread across 50 square kilometers. They are made of limestone, but during the dry season, the grass covering them turns brown, resembling giant chocolate kisses. This unique geological phenomenon, often described as a 'natural wonder,' is believed to be the result of uplifting of coral deposits and the erosion by rainwater.

2. How much time is typically recommended for visiting the Chocolate Hills viewing deck?

Visitors typically spend around 30 to 60 minutes at the Chocolate Hills viewing deck. This allows ample time to climb the steps to the observation area, take photographs of the panoramic landscape, and appreciate the unique geological formations. The duration can vary based on crowd levels and how long one wishes to stay for scenic appreciation, making it a flexible stop within a day tour.

3. What popular myths and legends are associated with the Chocolate Hills of Bohol?

One popular legend tells of two feuding giants who hurled rocks and sand at each other for days, eventually making peace and leaving behind the scattered hills as a reminder of their battle.
