— Golf Course and Attraction Introduction —
Nan Yi Golf Country Club
Nan Yi Golf Country Club is an 18-hole international standard golf course designed by the Japanese designer Mr. Hiroshi Watanabe. It is considered one of the best courses in the south, primarily designed to balance competitive play with social interaction, aiming to provide guests with a space that serves as a venue for networking and fitness while offering a challenging competitive environment. The two-story, high-ceilinged clubhouse, featuring a Southeast Asian style, allows you to fully enjoy the ambiance where nature and human design blend seamlessly. The spacious and comfortable environment offers exquisite Chinese and Western cuisine, international-level conference facilities, and professional business exhibition spaces, making it a multifunctional leisure and recreational destination.
Tainan Golf Club
The Tainan Xinhua Golf Course was planned and developed during the martial law period. In 1967, former legislator Ms. Liang Hsu Chun-chu, foreseeing that golf would become a popular sport that could cultivate noble character, gathered support from prominent social figures to initiate the project. With the assistance of General Ho Ying-chin and other relevant figures, the land at the foot of Hutoupi was planned and secured for the course. The first nine holes were completed in March 1971, and the remaining nine holes were finished in 1978, forming an 18-hole course. In 1998, the back nine holes were renovated and reopened, simultaneously sparking a trend of golf culture in the south.
Anping Old Street
Anping Old Street is a key tourist area when visiting Tainan. As a central hub, it is surrounded by numerous Tainan attractions, including historical sites, cultural and historical buildings, and many Tainan food spots. Beyond appreciating historical landmarks like the Anping Old Fort, exploring Tainan's culinary scene is a must.
Anping Old Fort
In the early 17th century, the Dutch occupied Anping in 1624 and built Fort Zeelandia as their defensive fortress, with all construction completed in 1634. After Koxinga captured the Dutch fortress in 1662, he renamed it Anping Town and designated the inner fortress as the inner palace, leading the Taiwanese people to call it the Royal City. During the Qing Dynasty, it lost its importance due to the silting of the Taijiang Inland Sea, and the Qing troops further damaged Fort Zeelandia to build the Eternal Golden Castle, leaving it to fall into disrepair. It was rebuilt after the Japanese colonial period, and after World War II, it was named Anping Old Fort. However, the only remaining ruins from the Dutch period are the brick walls of the southern section of the outer fortress in front of the fort. The gnarled roots of old banyan trees witness nearly four hundred years of Taijiang history. In 1975, to align with the tourism year plan, the Tainan City Government renovated the area around Anping Old Fort, adding a pointed roof to the observation tower and painting the walls white, which is the appearance we see today.
