- Event Introduction -
Hong Kong's largest annual event dedicated to cats, the Hong Kong Cat Expo, returns from 31 July to 2 August at Halls 3B–3D, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year's theme, "Wild West COWCAT," sees the beloved mascot Chubby Cheeks Cat and its feline friends transformed into cowboys, cacti, and other Wild West-inspired characters. A spectacular 4-metre-tall inflatable installation will take centre stage, creating the event's must-visit photo hotspot.
A brand-new interactive photo zone, "Nostalgic Meow Photo Studio," recreates the charm of old Hong Kong with immersive sets including a traditional Chinese herbal medicine shop, a vintage clock wall, a classic barbershop, and an old-style neighbourhood convenience store. Resident feline "shopkeepers" will welcome visitors, inviting cat lovers to step back in time and capture memorable moments together. The Expo also features two dedicated art zones—"Meow Gallery" and "Cat COLLEX"—showcasing an impressive collection of cat-inspired artworks, sculptures, designer toys, blind boxes and collectibles. Bringing together nearly 30 acclaimed artists from nine countries and regions, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, France and Russia, the exhibition highlights feline artistry across a wide range of media, including textiles, ceramics, copper and wood sculpture.
Renowned Hong Kong illustrator Mandycat unveils an all-new art installation inspired by the opera house, blending culture and creativity in a unique visual experience. The Expo also presents a special exhibition featuring over 100-year-old cat show collars and medals on loan from the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA), USA, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the rich heritage of the international cat fancy.
Visitors can also enjoy an exciting programme of events, including the 16th CFA Championship Cat Show x Summer Fun Show and "MoCity x Cat Expo – Cat Cinema", along with many other interactive attractions and live entertainment throughout the three-day exhibition.
