This 2-hour Storms River Kayak and Lilo Adventure is our most popular adventure activity in Tsitsikamma National Park. If you are interested in paddling more into the Storms River Gorge in Tsitsikamma, this is perfect for you. Your adventure starts at the harbor next to the small beach across the ocean, then you'll pass under the Suspension Bridge until you get to the beautiful Storms River Mouth. Please note that if the sea is rough, you have to hike to the Suspension Bridge (along a board walked trail), where you can hike along the river from the suspension bridge up to the jetty to where you then get on onto your kayaks. This is an 80m hike of difficult terrain over rocks.

After that, that's where the true Kayaking adventure begins by paddling through Storms River, the pinnacle of Tsitsikamma National Park. You will feel like a celebrity as the tourists take pictures of your cool moves in the kayak from the Suspension Bridge. Then, you will continue kayaking up the Stormsrivier, right into the bat's cave, and spend time admiring the cliffs around you. At the low-water point, you can disembark your kayaks and jump on your unique Lilos, inflatable mattresses that have been specially made for this trip. From there, you will walk and float over a short section of rocks and simply wade deeper up the river on your Lilos, so you can enjoy the breathtaking view more up close. Once you reach the desired point, you can turn your Lilos around and float back downriver to your kayaks.

  • Please refer to your voucher for final information regarding meeting points, pick-up locations, and pick-up time

  • Meeting point description: Please meet at the local operator's office situated inside Tsitsikamma National Park. You should look for Untouched Adventures Office.(Storms River mouth, 6309 South Africa)

  • Maximum weight to join this tour is 170kg

  • All guests are required to wear a Mask during the activity and during check-in, you will need to have temperature checked

  • If you have any symptoms including sore throat, coughing, red eyes, nausea, fever, difficulty breathing, please cancel your activity and the local operator will give you a voucher that is valid for 3 years

  • The location is inside the National Park and gate entry fees must be paid upon arrival

  • Please note that there are currently around one-hour delays at the entrance gate due to renovations by SANPARKS. During the peak summer season, it can take an hour or longer to get through the National Park gate, so please keep this in mind as there are no refunds for late/no shows

  • When the ocean is safe to kayak over the trip will involve in total of 10 minutes briefing, 20-30 minutes of ocean kayaking, 30-40 minutes of river kayaking, 40 minutes on Lilo, and around 20 minutes Cliff Jumping, swimming, and some time in between of just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view

  • If the ocean is unsafe to kayak over, the trip will involve in total of around 40 minutes of hiking through the forest, 10 minutes of briefing, 30-40 minutes of river kayaking, 40 minutes on Lilo, and around 20 minutes Cliff Jumping, swimming as above.
