- Attraction Introduction -

  • Fulong Old Caoling Tunnel
The train tunnel mentioned in the famous Taiwanese folk song 'Diu Diu Dang' is actually the 2,167-meter-long 'Old Caoling Tunnel'. Formerly connecting Fulong to Shicheng, the red-brick arched tunnel, with its slightly weathered appearance, tells stories of the past. This 'bicycle tunnel' combines history, culture, and tourism. Cycling through it to experience its original charm is the best way to explore. A one-way ride takes about 20 minutes and is easy and effortless. When a train passes by, you can even hear the rumbling sound, making it a must-visit for railway enthusiasts. The tunnel is cool in summer and warm in winter. With railway tracks on the ground and oil lamp shades hanging from the ceiling, it has a strong retro vibe that makes you feel like you are traveling through time, crossing between two counties—New Taipei and Yilan. Therefore, don't forget to take a photo at the photo spot by the sign marking the county border!
  • Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival
The 2026 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival will grandly open on May 29. Entering its 19th year, the 2026 festival continues to set international standards as a landmark summer tourism event in Taiwan. This year's theme, 'Global Summer Sand Sculpture Party', incorporates diverse international IPs such as 'Jurassic World', 'Back to the Future', 'Jaws', 'E.T.', 'Shrek', 'Kung Fu Panda', 'Madagascar', 'How to Train Your Dragon', 'The Boss Baby', and 'The Bad Guys' to create an immersive, cross-generational sand sculpture exhibition. This year, over 15 domestic and international sand sculpture artists have been invited to collaborate, showcasing over 40 themed sand sculptures. Combining the unique golden sand of Fulong Beach with the coastal landscape, it presents an outdoor exhibition that is both artistic and entertaining. Through the introduction of international IPs and upgraded site experiences, the event continues to strengthen its position as 'the largest and most fun sand sculpture themed exhibition in Taiwan', inviting travelers to spend the most talked-about summer event together.
    Event Location: Fulong Beach
Event Dates: 5/1 - 5/28 Only the beach is open; the sand sculpture exhibition officially opens on 5/29
Opening Hours: Swimming Area: 08:00 - 17:00 Beach and Park: Weekdays 08:00 - 19:00, Weekends and National Holidays 08:00 - 19:30. Subject to change based on on-site announcements.
  • Mao'ao Fishing Port
Located along the coastal highway, this small, ancient fishing village is easily overlooked. Although it may seem unremarkable, its traditional fishing village charm is worth stopping to savor. The village's most distinctive 'stone houses' are the perfect example of using local materials, with sandstone, bamboo, and thatch being the building elements. In the early days, when villagers built stone houses, they would help each other. Due to the unique bay topography, the sea area here is diverse and rich in marine resources, suitable for the growth of abalone, lobster, seaweed, and various marine life. The fishermen living in this area still retain traditional fishing techniques, and you can often see them drying seaweed in front of their homes or in the square. Walking along the line is like stepping into a painting of fishing village life on the Northeast Coast.
  • Magang Fishing Port
Located in Gongliao District, New Taipei, Magang Fishing Port is the easternmost fishing village in Taiwan. It is adjacent to the Northern Coastal Highway, right below the coast of Sandiaojiao Lighthouse. Magang has a large sea erosion platform, and the textures of some terrain have beautiful curves, making it an excellent place to watch the waves and see locals fishing and harvesting seaweed. Feel the sea breeze while enjoying the vast ocean view, and stop by Taiwan's easternmost cafe for a cup of coffee. Some people on the internet call Magang Fishing Port a 'cat village' because there are so many cats here. You can find them everywhere—in the square, on the embankment, at street corners, and on the roofs of old houses.
  • Sandiaojiao Lighthouse
Built in 1935, Sandiaojiao Lighthouse is the easternmost point of Taiwan and the place to welcome the first rays of sunlight every day. The lighthouse has an exhibition hall inside and offers an extremely vast view. Not only can you overlook Magang Fishing Port and the Lailai geological landscape, but on a clear day, you can also see Guishan Island in the distance, taking in the beautiful scenery of the Northeast Coast. There are romantic art installations and European-style pavilions on the grass. The Mediterranean-style scenery makes it a popular location for many idol dramas and wedding photos.
  • Shifen Waterfall
Known as the 'Niagara Falls of Taiwan', it is magnificent and picturesque. Viewing this scene makes one marvel at the craftsmanship of nature. Mist fills the air above the pool, and if the sunlight hits it just right, a rainbow may appear hanging over the waterfall—a rare and beautiful sight!
  • Caoling Historic Trail
During the summer, the Caoling Historic Trail is filled with wild ginger flowers. In autumn, the mountains are covered in blooming silver grass, creating a dazzling golden landscape. You can also enjoy views of Guishan Island from afar, making it the most popular hiking route along the Northeast Coast.
