A 3-day unlimited ride pass for just under 10,000 yen per person is a great deal. This time, we only used it for two days across three sections: Taipei to Taichung, Taichung to Tainan, and Tainan to Taipei, but even that was cheaper than the regular price. It would be even more economical if you rode it extensively for three days. What's more, the purchase method is simple: you buy it online and receive a voucher. This time, after arriving at Taipei Station from Taoyuan Airport via the MRT, we went straight to the high-speed rail counter, received our 3-day pass from the voucher, and booked our tickets to Taichung Station for the next morning. After sightseeing in Taichung the next day, we purchased tickets to Tainan at Taichung Station, and upon arrival at Tainan Station, booked our tickets to Taipei Station for the following day, successfully completing our entire trip as planned. This 3-day pass requires face-to-face interaction at a counter rather than using vending machines or automatic ticket gates, so we were able to manage with broken English and written Chinese characters, which was reassuring. We had to show our passports (one per person) at each step of the process, but it was reassuring to know that we could purchase our tickets without any problems.

Getting to Jiufen and Shifen from Taipei is difficult. Even if you take a taxi, there's a risk of not being able to find one on the way back, so it ends up being more like chartering a taxi (I wonder if you can call one with an app...?) The other tourist spots were places I wouldn't have thought to go to on my own, but they were worth seeing. The weather was a bit bad, which was a shame, but I'll definitely use their services again when I return to Taiwan. Unfortunately, they didn't speak Japanese, and although I wanted to get along with them, there was a lack of communication. We ended up communicating using LINE translation... This pass is very convenient. This time, I went to Kaohsiung and chose the 2-day unlimited ride pass for the Kaohsiung MRT and trams, along with a sightseeing bus plan to Sun Moon Lake. The bullet train was quite crowded, and my husband and I couldn't reserve seats next to each other, but we were able to change it at the ticket counter on the day of travel. Even with reserved seats, you can change the time anytime if you choose unreserved seats. However, it's very crowded, so reserved seats are difficult to get. Be careful, as you must reserve the bus to Sun Moon Lake by 12:00 PM every day; you cannot reserve it on the day of travel. I didn't have a suitable time either, but as long as I had the QR code, I could board any bus. This time, I thought I could make reservations using only the KKday app, but it turned out I also had to install the Taiwan Pass app and make bullet train reservations on the High-Speed ​​Rail website, which was a bit of a hassle, but once you do it, you get used to it, and it's a great pass, so I would like to use it again.

Highly recommended; buying tickets online seems to be a bit cheaper than buying them at the pier.

I participated in a tour of Rainbow Village, Miyahara Ophthalmology Clinic, and Gaomei Wetlands. At Miyahara Ophthalmology Clinic, if you wait in line for ice cream, you might not have time to buy souvenirs. Gaomei Wetlands was sunny, and I was able to take some great photos. The tour guide was very kind, and since all the participants were Japanese, they played enka music in the car on the way back, which was very relaxing. It was a great tour for the price!

I'd always wanted to experience a vintage train ride, and this was finally my chance! I was initially worried about the typhoon and heavy rains in southern Taiwan, fearing it might be canceled or I'd miss the scenery. On August 28th, my husband and I drove from Tainan to Fangliao, and it rained heavily the whole way. I thought all hope was lost… But then, heaven heard my plea! On the way there, the rain stopped or just started to drizzle. Finally, on the way to Taitung, I saw the blue sea I'd been longing for—it was absolutely stunning! It was totally worth it! ☺️ The staff at the Blue Ocean Museum were incredibly kind and helpful, and they settled everyone in order. The itinerary was perfectly arranged! The journey from Fangliao to Taitung takes about 3 hours. There are delicious Taiwan Railway pork rib bento boxes and refreshing sweet fruits to enjoy. There are also small vendors on the Blue Train that you can browse around a bit. The onboard guide was very attentive, explaining the story of the Blue Train's "Relief from Worries" service. The train stops at various stations along the way (Jialu/Dawu/Duoliang/Jinlun/Taimali/Zhiben). The guide also provides specific explanations on and off the train about where to collect stamps and take photos. Knowing that the Blue Train only has fans and no air conditioning, so the windows can be opened, even though it was raining and windy, I still sweated quite a bit! My husband and I are both very sensitive to heat, but we both found the experience unique and fun! Next time, I hope to take the train back from Taitung to Fangliao and see if it's a different experience!

Five-star recommendation! We were so lucky to have met Guo En today, who took us to Sun Moon Lake and the farm. There were so many adorable sheep and a horse show! Guo En is incredibly warm and friendly, and his driving skills are top-notch! On the way down the mountain, the fog was thick and visibility was very low, making the mountain roads quite challenging. Guo En remained calm and composed throughout, driving smoothly and safely, giving us a very comfortable and reassuring ride. Along the way, he also patiently explained the local architecture, culture, and stories, and recommended many delicious local dishes. His special recommendation of a goose meat restaurant was absolutely amazing, and we've already eaten it! He was patient, attentive, and hardworking all day, making for a fantastic tour experience. Next time I come to Taiwan, I will definitely choose Guo En again without hesitation! For anyone planning a chartered tour of Sun Moon Lake in Nantou, I highly recommend him! The misty mountain scenery was even more memorable than a sunny day. It was like visiting Sun Moon Lake, a place I learned about in elementary school textbooks. Tonight, we plan to go to the night market for some delicious food and further experience this wonderful place in Taichung.

The itinerary was excellent, and the tour guide was very friendly, helping us order delicious food, choose sky lanterns, and providing great explanations of the itinerary. Time management was also superb! The only downside was that we had to return to the bus early because the air conditioning wouldn't be turned on earlier if there weren't enough people! Everything else was great 👍! A great choice for a day trip!
