The best time is during the high season from May to September, when the weather is perfect for beach fun but the crowds are bigger. If you prefer a quieter experience, go during the off-season from October to April.

Must-visit sights include Pompeii, Capri’s Blue Grotto and Matera’s Sassi House, as well as Positano’s Santa Maria Assunta and Amalfi Cathedrals.
